Earthy Curves

Kifisia, Athens, Greece

Year: 2021
Design: Kordas Architects
Architect: Anastasis Dimokas - Led the design while employed at Kordas Architects
3D Renders: Anastasis Dimokas

Located in the warm, earthy suburb of Kifissia, Athens, this four-story apartment building was designed to maximize available building volume while remaining sensitive to its natural and chromatic context. A defining wall element separates the ground-floor unit, complete with a private pool and garden, from the upper residences, offering both privacy and spatial clarity. The design introduces subtle variation across levels through fluid balcony forms and non-repetitive layouts, avoiding the monotony typical of stacked apartment floors. Full-height warm materials enhance the feeling of home throughout. Sustainability was a key focus: the building’s orientation shields living spaces from harsh western summer sun and cold northern winter winds, while preserving the site's four existing pine trees, integrating architecture with its natural environment rather than imposing upon it.
